Aston Martin DB11 Volante: testing on the snow

It’s not a secret, as can be read in a post on Aston Martin social network: “Coming Spring 2018 #DB11Volante”. Everybody knows that the soft top convertible is a year and a half away, but we can do now better for you: here are the best shots yet of the DB11 Volante before its official unveiling.

From these pictures of the test mule, we spot extra bodywork covering the rear wings, but only for testing purposes. The real deal will be bestowed with the DB11 coupe’s flowing curves. Chopping the metal roof off will translate in a heavier car. The DB11, for reference, tips the scales 1,770 kilograms. Despite the weight gain, the 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 has enough output to make the not-yet-ready-for-production Aston Martin DB11 Volante feel hotfoot enough.

Thanks to 600 hp and 700 Nm of torque, plus a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, the fixed-head version of the DB11 can hit 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. The future DB11 Volante should be one or two tenths slower.
